Never Stop Learning

By: Luke Miller

Think of the smartest people you know. I probably don’t know the people you’re thinking of, but I bet I can make some pretty good guesses about them. I’m thinking that they’re probably readers - they read books, blogs, the newspaper, etc. They most likely travel, or at least constantly explore the world around them. They have hobbies that push them intellectually. Am I right?

If you want to ensure success in your career, be a lifelong learner. Like the smartest people you know, read as much as you can, travel and explore, and find hobbies that stimulate your brain. Marshall Goldsmith says that “what got you here won’t get you there.” Realizing this is crucial as you seek to grow in your work.

A successful employee knows that achieving more will require a constantly growing knowledge base, and will invest their time and energy in learning as much as they can about their industry, the best tools available, and more.
